Did you know we recycle batteries & vapes? πŸ’š

Recently we received a worrying email from another one of our recycle heroes after batteries they were planning to recycle exploded in their kitchen! This made us really stop and think about recycling and safety, especially when it comes to flammable items such as batteries and vapes. But not to worry, at RecycleSmart we have a solution. Here’s what you need to know when it comes to how to safely recycle your batteries and vapes.

WHY ARE VAPES & BATTERIES DANGEROUS IN THE BIN?

Batteries and vapes are a problem item when it comes to recycling. They shouldn’t go in landfill or the recycling bin as improper disposal of batteries can harm ecosystems and pose threats to wildlife. They are also highly flammable!

HOW TO SAFELY STORE YOUR VAPES AND BATTERIES

To safely store batteries, pop them in a glass container with a loose top as an airtight lid can cause a pressure build up and become dangerous. Avoid storing them in a metal container as they can spark and create a fire hazard. Keep batteries in a dry, cool place away from heat sources. With vapes, similar applies, keep them upright and store them in a place out of sunlight.
