Australia has really embraced the traditionally American holiday in recent years with Aussies spending $159 million on Halloween lollies and chocolate yearly alone. But there’s a scary reality behind the fun of Halloween- how much waste it contributes to landfill with all the decorations, party supplies and plastic packaging from the treats and toys!

In Australia 70% of rigid plastic ends up in landfill when it could have been recycled through curbside recycling. That’s a lot of plastic ending up in landfill that doesn’t need to be there.

At RecycleSmart we are so excited to announce our new partnership with Vinnies! Starting today in select NSW councils, we’re extending our service to include the collection of small furniture in good condition. All you have to do is book a Power Pickup on the Recyclesmart app and we will come to your location to collect the furniture. We then take the small furniture to select Vinnies locations where it will be sorted and resold by the charity.
